Liver Cancer Immunotherapy
Cancer immunotherapy is changing the outlook for patients diagnosed with different types of liver cancer
Immunotherapy for liver cancer offers some of the greatest new treatment options for patients. There are three main types of liver cancer: hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), cholangiosarcoma, and hepatoblastoma. Rarer subtypes do occur within these categories, such as fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma, which are also eligible for treatment with immunotherapy based on the individual patient’s likelihood to respond.
Liver cancers are diagnosed in more than 800,000 people around the world each year and is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths globally.
In this breakout session from the 2022 CRI Virtual Immunotherapy Patient Summit, Dr. Theodore Welling from the Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Health discusses the latest updates in immunotherapy treatments for patients with these and other types of liver cancer.
