Immunotherapy Patient Summit Agenda – Announced!

2016 Immunotherapy Patient Summit

We’re just over a month away from the first Cancer Research Institute Immunotherapy Patient Summit and we’ve been blown away by the response to the event. The response has been so positive, we’ve had to increase capacity – twice!

As excitement builds, we wanted to share a sneak peek of the programming we’re planning for the Summit. Here’s what to expect:

15-minute Master Classes

  • Immunotherapy 101Hearn Jay Cho, MD PhD, oncologist at Mount Sinai Hospital
  • Going to the Source: How to Read a Scientific Abstract When You Don’t Have a PhD, with Janet Freeman-Daily, patient advocate and author of the award-winning blog GrayConnections.net
  • Paying for Treatment, with Jane Levy, LCSW, Director of Patient Assistance Programs at CancerCare
  • Cancer Research in the News: Separating Hope from Hype, with Arlene Weintraub, journalist and author of the book “Heal: The Vital Role of Dogs in the Search for Cancer Cures”

Panel Discussions

  • What You Need to Know: Immunotherapy Research Update. Experts in cancer immunotherapy share the latest research news, as well as what to watch for in the coming months.
  • Demystifying Clinical Trials. Hear from a range of voices (an oncologist, a trial nurse, and clinical trial patients) about what it’s really like to be in a clinical trial.
  • Empowering You: Self-advocacy Tips and Tools. Immunotherapy patients discuss the practical steps they took to become empowered in their own care.
  • Caregivers: Advocating for Those You Love. A parent, a daughter, and a partner share their experiences in caring and advocating for their family members.
  • Living Life at Stage 4. Immunotherapy patients engage in a frank discussion of the joys and hardships of life with metastatic cancer and treatment with immunotherapy.

Additional speakers

As you can see, we’re bringing attendees experts in a wide range of topics – from oncologists, to advocates, to patients who’ve experienced immunotherapy firsthand.

We know this will be a valuable day to all to attend, and we’re proud to offer two ways to join in: either in person in New York City, or remotely, via our livestream. Either way, registration is free.

Click here to register to join us on the 24th, either in NYC or remotely.

The Cancer Research Institute Immunotherapy Patient Summit is made possible by generous support from Bristol-Myers Squibb, Merck, Genentech, and Regeneron.
