#TeamCRI Runners Go the Distance to Advance Cancer Immunotherapy

The Cancer Research Institute (CRI) is proud to be hosting dozens of runners in marathons over the course of the next few months, including the 2024 Honolulu and 2025 Big Sur International marathons. These passionate #TeamCRI runners are playing a pivotal role in raising vital funds and spreading awareness for cancer immunotherapy research, which aims to accelerate the fight against cancer. These runners share one common goal: a desire to help eliminate cancer through the power of immunotherapy.

I am from Berlin, and I am passionate about raising money for cancer research. We have all been affected by cancer.”

2. TCS NYC Marathon (November 3, 2024)

In the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon, 15 dedicated runners blazed past their fundraising goal of $52.5K while collectively raising over $67K for life-saving immunotherapy research. Chloe Hancock, #TeamCRI runner, raised nearly $8.5K alone. Several marathon runners expressed enthusiasm for the event and the cause.

“Running in honor of my family was one of the most special things I have ever done,” said Brett Bial, #TeamCRI runner. “Yesterday is a day I will remember for my whole life.”

    3. Honolulu Marathon (December 8, 2024)

Twelve #TeamCRI runners will participate in the 2024 Honolulu Marathon, with a collective goal of $22.5K. So far, they have raised over $19K. Jess Fujimoto, #TeamCRI runner, said that participating was an easy choice.

“This is my fifth Honolulu marathon. Running is a great outlet to process all the feelings swirling in my head, including grief and loss,” Fujimoto said. The Alaska resident is motivated to run because of her friends and family members who are valiantly fighting cancer. “I’m running in memory of my amazing stepdad who passed from an aggressive cancer in 2020, for my dad and my father-in-law both currently undergoing treatment, for a couple close friends with stage 4 cancer, for the survivors, and for those who don’t win.”
