Ansuman T. Satpathy, MD, PhD, CRI Lloyd J. Old STAR Stanford University Area of Research: All Cancers The goal of Dr. Satpathy’s research is to develop and apply genome-scale technologies to study fundamental properties of the immune system in cancer immunity and immunotherapy. In his proposal, Dr. Satpathy will focus on three research programs over the next 5 years: (1) to develop and employ multi-omic single-cell and longitudinal profiling methods to understand the transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of immune cell types, lineage trajectories of immune differentiation and clonal response, and dysfunctional pathways that can arise in cancer, (2) use gene- and epigenome-editing methods to interrogate protein-coding and noncoding regulators of the immune response, particularly T cell exhaustion and dysfunction, and to engineer improved cellular immunotherapies, and (3) develop and use tools from functional genomics and mass spectrometry to discover novel regulators of host-cancer interactions that regulate anti-tumor immunity.
