Ask CRI Fellow Miguel Reina-Campos, PhD, Anything in CIM21 Reddit Takeover On Tuesday, June 29 at 1pm ET / 10am PT, Miguel Reina-Campos, PhD, a CRI Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, San Diego, will conduct a Reddit Ask Me Anything session about cancer metabolism and the immune system on the CRI Reddit account. A Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) is a virtual Q&A session in which users ask an expert, celebrity, or everyday people about a subject or personal experience. Dr. Reina-Campos is characterizing tissue-resident T cells and how they behave during infection to better understand how they might be manipulated against cancer. His research will inform why the immune system is unable to suppress cancer within the nutrition-limited tumor environment while also revealing new strategies to reinvigorate the exhausted immune response. Dr. Reina-Campos also volunteered for the Microsetta Initiative in collecting and preserving SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA to help researchers better understand how the novel coronavirus virus spreads (part of the the San Diego COVID Research Enterprise Network (SCREEN)). Visit our Reddit Account (u/CancerResearchInst) and ask Dr. Reina-Campos questions about cancer and the immune system. Find all our Cancer Immunotherapy Month activities at cancerresearch.org/june and across social media with the hashtag #CIM21.
