ABOUT THE HONOREES

Dr. Mak receives the 2023 William B. Coley Award for his seminal work to clone the T cell receptor, helping to establish the foundation for much of T cell immunology and set the stage for the development of modern immunotherapies. Dr. Mak is Director of the Campbell Family Institute for Breast Cancer Research, Senior Scientist at the University Health Network Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and Professor in the Department of Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Goldrath receives the 2023 Frederick W. Alt Award in recognition of her many outstanding contributions, including her work that has uncovered the mechanistic basis underlying the formation and maintenance of long-lived protective immunity. The Alt Award is presented annually to a former CRI Irvington postdoctoral fellow in recognition of exceptional success in academia or industry for research that has a major impact in the field of immunology. Dr. Goldrath recently joined the Allen Institute in Seattle as the Executive Vice President and Director of the Allen Institute for Immunology after 19 years at UC San Diego where she was a Tata Chancellor’s Professor in the School of Biological Sciences in the Molecular Biology Department.
