2025 Sailfish Community Move for Life

Join Jane and Dick Landesman for a community-building fundraiser to benefit the Cancer Research Institute. Come together with the Sailfish Point Community and help create a World Immune to Cancer.

Whether you bike, run, walk, swim, or ride your golf cart during the day or stick around for some evening fun, 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the Cancer Research Institute to support cancer immunotherapy research.

The History Behind the Fundraiser

In 2008, Dr. Keith A. Landesman, a beloved son, father, and husband lost his life to cancer. Each year his parents Jane and Dick, along with their family and friends, honor his life and legacy by raising funds to support Cancer Research Institute postdoctoral fellows whose groundbreaking research expands our knowledge of cancer and its relationship to the immune system. Since 2013, the Cancer Research Institute Landesman Fundraiser has raised almost $1.9 million. These funds have supported young scientists working to find immunotherapies for breast, colorectal, lung, and ovarian cancers, glioblastoma, leukemia, and lymphoma.

As always, you can be a part of this special cause and make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer by registering today or giving to the Landesman Fundraiser.

If you wish to mail in a contribution, please make your donation payable to Cancer Research Institute and send to:

Current CRI-Dr. Keith Landesman Memorial Fellows

Yitong Ma, PhD, Stanford University, 2024-present
Programmable delivery of therapeutic gene editing molecules by engineered immune cells Dr. Yitong Ma is addressing a significant challenge in cancer treatment— delivery of gene-editing material to cancer or immune cells at the right time and in the correct context. Cancers result from the accumulation of gene mutations, and recent advances in CRISPR-based technologies offer potential solutions to rectify these mutations by providing a means to edits specific genes.

Kevin Ng, PhD, The Rockefeller University, 2024-present
Deciphering the contribution of germinal centers to tumor control

Dr. Kevin Ng is investigating the role of immune B cells in colorectal cancer. Despite advancements in immunotherapy, patients with colorectal cancer often do not respond to treatment. Emerging evidence indicates that B cells may play a role in cancer development and may also influence response to immunotherapy. However, the triggers for B cell responses and their interactions with other immune cells in controlling tumor growth remain poorly understood.

Why CRI? Why Immunotherapy?

In 2024, more than 2 million Americans will be diagnosed with cancer, and more than 600,000 will die of cancer. Worldwide, cancer claims the lives of more than 10 million people each year. It’s a global health crisis that will worsen unless we do something now to stop cancer in its tracks. By supporting the Landesman Fundraiser, you can help us create a world immune to cancer.
